Creating Community Level
Having a very balanced philosophy on education, I can see the positives and negatives of having both a teacher centered and student centered classroom. Having a very strict teacher centered classroom may be easy to implement, but it won't lead to more engaged students. It is a "these are the rules and you will follow them" management plan. Most students will follow the rules, but the majority will not gain any real personal growth in the classroom. If the class is set up centered around the student, then the students will take ownership of the rules and expectations. This will build a community of learning and the students will get more out of their education.
